In 1930, he sold this business to Charles Erskine Lindley who had been hired by George A. Foster & Company at age 19 to be its first employee. After joining Foster's firm full time as an accountant, Lindley bought out his partner John Wirth Jr.'s share of the business so that he could focus solely on accounting activities at Foster's New York City office.
